Esker Hills Golf Club is proud to have the 3 Irish Open Champion 2009, Shane Lowry as a member of their club. From an early age Shane wandered the course day and night and made it his second home.
Having played the length and breath of the Country and on foreign soil, Shane Lowry always believed that Esker Hills was one the finest Golf Courses he has played on.
Shane had a glittering Amateur career that culminated in him being the first Amateur golfer to ever win an Irish Open in May 2009. Having started playing at the age of 13, it was at the age of 14 when he joined our club and it wasn’t long before he was representing both Leinster and Ireland at Amateur level.
His natural love for the game is his real strength and when he has the luxury of enjoying the game he now plays for a living it makes his game a lot better.
He has been the top Amateur in Ireland for some time and finished up 2008 as the number 1 Amateur golfer in Europe. To now have a professional on the European Tour as a member of our club is a dream come true for us.
With a hectic life now on his hands, when his time off from the pro circuit comes about he will be looking forward to coming out to our club and having a relaxing swing.
Who knows you may even meet him in the bunker some day, or in the rough chipping to safety! |
